The Zamindars (owners) of Samode the principal Thakurs of the state of Amber were the clan of Nathawat Chomu, a branch of the Amber house, dating back to the Maharaja of Jaipur, the fabled Prithviraj Singhji, the 17th prince of the house Kacchwaha Rajputs. It was awarded Samode to Gopal Singhji, one of his 12 son, a noble vassal of the Principality of Amber and Jaipur. Samode was one of the richest kingdom of Amber. Thereafter, the kingdom fell into the hands of Behari Das, a warrior of the Rajpoot clan that was in the service of the Mughals.
